TAAM MISSION AND HISTORY
About
Founded in 1989, the Turkish American Association of Minnesota (TAAM) is a non-profit organization dedicated to building connections and fostering understanding between diverse communities through cultural and educational activities. At the heart of TAAM's mission is the belief that arts play a crucial role in bringing people together. The organization provides a platform for exploring the rich music,
folk-dance, literature, and arts of Türkiye, offering deeper insight into the nation's cultural roots. Turkish culture is a blend of many civilizations—from the Hittite, Greek, Persian, Seljuk, Byzantine, and Ottoman empires, among others.
TAAM’s activities proudly reflect these varied cultural influences, embracing diversity through its artistic and educational programs. Over the years, TAAM members have engaged with the wider community, sharing arts performances both independently and in collaboration with other cultural organizations.
In addition, by providing connections and support, TAAM provides a welcoming space for people with ties to Turkiye who are currently living in Minnesota and the neighboring states.
